Hi friends/
I wanted to share with you all some recent experiences I had on Sri Lanka. After the Tsunami hit, I was totally gripped by the devastation and couldn't let go of it. It was clearly an instruction from the Lord to go and step into the situation with what one person can do. God used the time to transform me in numerous ways - I'd be happy to share it with any of you who'd like to dialog on it. If you would like to see what the trip was about, open http://dakotacom.net/~kozachik/Tsunami/index.html and it'll take you around the world.
Hope things are well with you all. My Zambia school project is nearly funded - hope to return late spring to bring that up out of the ground.
God's blessings to you all,
Steve k.

Wow, the pictures definitely give you an idea of the personal impact there. And I am still pondering your note that there is not one person who has not personally lost loved ones. When I apply that concept to my community and imagine everyone around me having lost close friends and relatives it becomes mind boggling. Grief and loss will shape their current generation.

I also sympathize with "hug ettiquite" problems. Even within a culture there are different variations and subliminal messages that go along with types of hugs and whose hugging who...I wonder how the trees feel about it these days? They probably don't really have many rules built up around that sort of thing. But I imagine if it keeps them alive they aren't too picky.

I was vaguely wondering why a few weeks had gone by without my noticing you jogging on the side of River Road en route to my job.... You might not notice me, because I gave the car to a Wycliffe guy and "traded up" for a less distinctive (but more distinguished) looking silver-gray Civic.

Anyhow, finally got up the guts to look at your website. My own "personal circle" last week had enough intensity for me... sometimes I just can't take on any more, except when the thought pops into my mind, to pray.

At a potluck the other night, a friend of Em's was explaining her attempt to conceptualize "300,000 people gone" for a group of 4th graders she was sub-teaching for. How *do* people deal with that much loss? That's like all of Tucson between Tucson Mall and the airport.

Thanks for your courage in representing us.
