Our PC contracted a virus that is proving very difficult to remove. We may need a Windows XP Professional setup CD to completely remove it. However our computer didn't ship with one. Does anyone have an XP Pro CD we could borrow for a system restore?

Subject: virus removal

Have you tried Malwarebytes antimalware? That has gotten rid of every virus that I have encountered in the district. It is a free download.

Subject: yep, no dice

I appear to have a variant of the windowsclick virus. Malwarebytes does not even start, even after renaming the executable. I've followed some instructions I found on the Internet to manually remove the windowslick/uac.sys trojan and those have failed also.

I don't want to spend time trying to remove the virus anymore, I'd rather just spend a couple hours backing up our data to CD and reinstalling XP.
