Kathy and I went to Alladin for lunch. It has an excellent atmosphere and there are some inexpensive lunches on the menu. We had an Entertainment book coupon so we chose from the dinner menu. If middle eastern cuisine is your thing, this is good. The kabobs were perfectly done and both the accompaning hummus and garlic sauce were outstanding. The gift of good garlic sauce is you get to eat it the rest of the day. Perhaps this one was a bit overpowering. The service was pleasant, although a little slow. We almost didn't make it to our follow-up movie on time. Kathy rates restaurants on their iced tea and the tea got only two stars. The server kept refilling my diet coke so I was very happy. It was a nice place to eat and one we will probably go back to the next time we want to pretend we are in Lebanon.

Save up your pennies and take a run down to the Catalina theater and watch "Luther". It is outstanding. The movie captures the humor and passion and the joy and pain that marked the Reformation transition in the church's history. Peter Ustinov as Prince Frederick the Wise is wonderful. His portayal of brilliant understated nobility almost steals the show. Martin Luther's passion and humor are deliciously portrayed and I particularly enjoyed the scenes of rage as he goes to war with and curses the devil. This is particularly a 'must see' for anyone who has been attending the Theology Discussion group. Kathy agrees that it was well acted and she liked it because it was informative. She also appreciated the cinematogrophy and costuming. Instead of being dark and brooding, it brought a sense of depth and deep rooted joy. It may not be in the theater long so save your pennies quickly.
