Coveting prayers as I conduct the memorial service tomorrow afternoon for one of my dearest friends, Jean Finney. Jean and I played golf every Saturday for 20+ years. He was a rough, tough old Marine and he could make me laugh more than any other person ever has. He was kind and generous and thoughtful, but he would never talk about what he was doing for others. He was bold and brass and fearless. When I went through my deep, dark depression he stood with me and encouraged me and brought me hope. For many years he refused to admit that he believed in God and would call me all kinds of names for being a Christian (all in jest), but in the last few years he admitted to me that he believed. It was my deepest longing that he come to know Jesus and he did. How wonderful that is. Tomorrow will be so very hard and so very joyful at the same time. I know I'm on sabbatical but I long for you to pray. Thanks, Rod

I'll be praying for you, Rod. Your devotion to your friend, and your patience waiting for him to bow down to God, is a great encouragement and consolation to me, as I wait for my friends to follow God.
