My stepfather who lives in Phoenix was visiting his children in Minnesota and stumbled and fell. He ruptured his spleen and broke several ribs and is currently undergoing emergency surgery to remove the spleen. The doctors best case scenario is that he will be hospitalized for five to seven days and then will be in rehab for four or five weeks before he will be able to travel back home to Phoenix. My mother was going to travel to California for my niece's wedding this weekend, but now is trying to decide how to be with Herm and what life will look like as he recovers in Minnesota.

Please pray for successful surgery and that he will recover well. He is 85 years old and there are numerous complications that could arise. Please pray things will go well.

Please pray for my Mom, Bernice, as she makes decisions about traveling and how and when to do that.

Please pray for Herm's children as they tend to their Dad's needs while he is far from home.

Thanks for your prayers.

Rod

Herm made it through the surgery successfully and is currently in the ICU. The broken rib had cut the spleen in two and also pierced his lung. He did not have to be placed on a ventilator as was earlier assumed, but does have a tube in his chest to help with drainage from the lung. He is facing a long recovery and will not be permitted to travel for quite some time. After he is released from the hospital he will need skilled care for at least five or six weeks and will probably be placed in a nursing home to accomplish that. Praise God for successful surgery and for the fact that he is near his sons and daughters from his first marriage. Please continue to pray for God's healing and for his mercy as Herm and my Mom are apart and as he recovers.

Thanks.

Rod
