If you spend much time after worship eating dinner you notice the McCulley kids love to help clean up. They wait patiently, or sometimes not so patiently, for you to finish your dinner and then ask if they can throw away your plate for you. They are such fun to watch. Sunday night Ian ran up to me and asked if I was finished with my Diet Coke. I told him I was still working on it, but he could come back in a little while. Thirty seconds later he was back again to ask if I was done and I told him to give me a bit more time. Another minute or two went by and he came roaring up once more asking if I was done yet. I grabbed the Coke and took a last gulp and handed him the empty can. He told me he would take it to the recycle bin. Before he left he held the can up to his eye and looked inside. He frowned and reached to hand me the can back and said, "There is still some in it. Don't waste it!" Corrected, I took the can back.

He stood there waiting while I drained the tiny remnant that was left and gave him back the can. He shook it and held it up to his eye again and looked inside. He smiled at me, nodded his head affirmatively, and ran off to the recycle bin.

I laughed until I cried.

You've got to love the McCulley family values of thrift and recycling and how they have been instilled in their little ones.

I'm still giggling.

Rod
