I feel prompted to make a plug for Pilgrim groups. After a year or more at the Village I finally decided to take the plunge this time with Phillipians and a bunch of really great women.
Some of my thoughts about why I should commit at this time were: accountability to be in Scripture, being known by a few more people(because I'm not big on big groups and do better with just a handful), prayer support, knowing Christ and the power of the gospel more, and the possibility of a few more "listening ears" if I have anything big come up. . .
Pilgrim Groups 2010 have delivered all of those things. Plus, it is a great rhythm of rest for me, time away from my kids, and time to reflect on my relationship with God. I come home refreshed, eager to practice what I've learned, and with a renewed sense of community. A feeling of "we're all in this together" and "isn't God faithful?". . . I'm learning more of Christ and also how to be in community like He asks. To pray, to worship, and to listen/encourage.
If you missed the opportunity to join this time, consider it next time. I'm excited about how the summer groups might look and who else God might invite in. |
