hola from the Midwest -

I have been praying about this for a while, so I'm not sure why at 1:11 am at my house in Indiana I decided to blog about this, but oh well...maybe it's being around all the Amish with their horses ;)

For those of you who don't know, I grew up in a farm town and showed beef cattle, swine, and dairy feeder steers for 7 years growing up. Along with that, I rode horses a lot. It is a part of who I am - I think the being outside and enjoying God's beauty feels very freeing to me, and I really miss it.

I have asked God for a way to reconnect with that back in Tucson. There is actually quite the mini-population of ranchers and such in Tucson, and I thought it would be great if there was a way I could find a family or ranch that would let me help out around the ranch a few hours a week in exchange for riding their horses, or if they needed their horses ridden and worked, I could do that without shoveling manure :) .

I just felt God saying "ask", so I'm wondering if anyone happens to know anyone in Tucson who would want their horses worked or help around their ranch. I'm just looking for something maybe once or a twice a week for a few hours. If you hear of anything, just let me know!

thanks villagers!

So when I lived in Tucson I was interested in the horse thing for awhile too...then I had the opportunity where I taught. I also know there is a rescue place that I think also works with disabled kids and maybe they could work out a deal with you. I will work on remembering or finding the name of the ranch.

The place is TROT (Therapeutic Riding of Tucson). It's on Woodland Road, near TV & Catalina.

My parents have friends who own (or used to own, last I heard) a large cattle ranch near Willcox. People from my parent's church would all get together once or twice a year to help with the roundups. If you wanted to join next time, I can get you the info.
