Hi friends and family.

I am sitting here at work, staring at my computer, realizing I should be getting back to work, but once again my fatigue spells have started to creep back into my life.

For about two years before I left for Indonesia, I experienced a variety of very random health issues. My sophomore year it was an intense tremor and internal shaking that about drove me crazy and was intensified without food. The year before Indonesia, it was the fatigue spells. They would hit anywhere between the late morning to late evening, making me so tired that my brain could not put sentences together, concentrate, or do anything productive at all. Being a student with a job, and often too active social life, it created quite a shadow over me.

Several doctors told me it was nothing. Then at Campus Health of all places, the doctor finally told me my red blood count was severely low and that I needed to go on iron supplements for a few months. I took them while in Indonesia, and only had 3 really bad spells at the beginning of the trip. Miraculously nothing for the rest of the trip, and I haven't had any since...up until last week. I've started getting them again, not as intense as when they were at their worst, but definitely noticeable.

Some of you know my mom has celiac disease and I thought I might. If this continues yet again, I may go to the specialist and get it checked out...just for some additional background info.

I'm the kind of person who enjoys sharing my life and struggles with others, sometimes too much I think, but I was just sitting here feeling very weighed down by this, by the thought of beginning these battles in my life again, where I'm so tired that I just want to cry...so I thought I'd just let some of it out to you all because you're loving and you care.

thanks for letting me share.

-layne
