Subject: The Fall
I have been listening to the band "Gungor" a lot lately, meditating on their very intentional lyrics (and very much enjoying the banjo and cello!)
Listening to their song "The Fall", I have been reminded how deeply we are impacted by sin...it is everywhere and there is no escape from how much it ravages us, destroying all that was once good. And if you leave it at that, what depressing truth!
But it has made all the more grateful for what Jesus has done, and that he gives us the opportunity for wholeness and relationship with the Father...that we are not left abandoned to our own self-destruction, but that we can beg God to turn his face toward us, and he can and does, because of what Jesus has done. That he's not forced to turn us away before our sin separates us, but we are embraced. This truth has been transforming my heart this past week...
The fall, the fall, oh God the fall of man
The fruit is found in every eye and every hand
Nothing, there is nothing yet in truest form
We walk like ghost upon the earth, the ground in groans
How long, how long will you wait? How long, how long till you save us all, save us all
Turn your face to me, turn your face to me
Turn your face to me, turn your face to me
The light, the light, the morning light is gone
And all that's left is fragile breath and failing lungs
The night, the night, the guiding night has come
Igniting love and with its bride more precious than the dark
How long, how long must we wait?
Turn your face to me, turn your face to me
Turn your face to me, turn your face to me
