I really like video as a way to communicate. I process the world as a collage of image clips.
The clips are things like looking out my window and seeing a stormy sky before I look back to folding the clothes -
I see the gray clouds building to crescendo, the windy leaves, the almost rain...
or glancing at someone as I head over to get a piece of pizza- I see happy body language and hear the distant sounds of an excited story told in tones of celebration...
from a conversation I remember short clips of spoken words, laughter, untied shoes, an expression on a face, the color of the walls, silences......
This morning I watched the videos without sound because Jeff wasn't awake yet. Looks like great fun! I noticed that in the video I watched of some other emergent church (the last one) - the people looked "successful" and "younger-ish". I'm excited for them to have a place to go to church but I don't think we are like that. We have a mix of "successful looking" , "working on it", "studiously ignoring it" folks. I was happy to see Joel smoking in one of our videos - not because I like to see people smoking, but rather, I like the "we are not afraid of who you are" message.
My final comment: need more footage of the elusive older side of the Village. This may take some intentionality but with hard work and maybe some bribery, a clip might be had.
