Eric's Thoughts
tal·ent
A marked innate ability, as for artistic accomplishment. See Synonyms at ability.
Natural endowment or ability of a superior quality.
A person or group of people having such ability: The company makes good use of its talent.
A variable unit of weight and money used in ancient Greece, Rome, and the Middle East.
Do you have things that other people need? This past weekend we talked about the different "things" you have to offer to those around you. One "thing" you have to offer is your talents. Talents are simply stuff you are good at. Everyone has talents, and talents are as varied as people are different from each other. For example, Russ is a talented computer programmer, and Emily, his wife, is a talented gardener. Talents can be offered in a variety of ways and in a variety of places. A week ago, in my message, I gave you an assignment for the summer. This past Sunday I offered you some tools to make the assignment easier - you can listen to the talk online. I also expanded the project to the people outside the village. I think that it is often difficult for many of us to figure out how our talents fit into the community, or we just wish we had someone else's talents. I'm sure most of us don't really see ourselves as very talented at all. There is always someone else better or "more talented" than we are. This is why I like this assignment - instead of thinking about what you might be good at, you get to think about other villagers' talents, and how they might be able to develop and offer them to the community and the world.
Events
None that I know of . . . But - Both sets of Cepins will be leaving on Thursday for Tenn. to be part of by brother Wesley's wedding. This means I won't be at church on Sunday. Rod is going to need some help setting up the sound and environment of Vespers. If you can help, give him a call and he will tell you what time you need to be there. |
