2) Soup Supper - be there or be square. This is my personal favorite Village event. The Village Soup Supper takes place on November 17, 2007 at The Seneca House. We start serving soup at 6:00pm. The Soup Supper is a very special event at the Village. You will get to eat homemade soup and bread, take communion together, and talk about what you are thankful for. I urge you to come and offer your culinary master-pieces and your stories of the past year.

Recently, I heard someone say that Christianity is the only religion that is not based on the teachings of its founder. The Gospel - the good news of Jesus - the Victories of Jesus - is not about his teachings but his actions. Christianity is based on Events, in particular, events that happened to Jesus. You and I are not transformed into new people by what Jesus or his disciples said, but what Jesus did - God being born as to human mother, God(Jesus) dying on the cross for my sins, God(Jesus) rising from the dead . . . conquering sin and death. The Bible indicates that these events give me new identity(Gal 2.20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.) "I" lose the I and gain Christ. These events are what I am called to encounter and wrestle with - am I a sinner - do I really need someone to die for me - etc. |
