Sermon Correction
Rod brought to my attention on Sunday that when I described his spiritual gift during the sermon, I called it the gift of “divining spirits,” which is (thankfully) incorrect. Rod’s spiritual gift is actually that of “discerning spirits,” also described in some translations simply as “discernment.” We will discuss this distinction more later in our 8-week series.
Bring Your Power Drill To Church
This coming Sunday, we will be dismantling our wooden structures after Vespers. If you have an electric drill, please bring it to church and assist with this process. Please also consider staying a little later than usual to help organize our closet and get things packed into tubs for our imminent departure.
We Made An Offer We Hope They Can’t Refuse
On Monday afternoon, after Lunch with Minister Coleen, Rod and I made an offer on the Cloverland building. We hope to receive their acceptance or counter-offer by Wednesday.
UPDATE:
We Just Bought A Building!!!
God has been so gracious to us. Rod and I made an offer for the Cloverland building yesterday. The owners accepted it today without any modifications or counter-offers. So put on your seat belts (and a tool belt if you've got one), folks -- here we go! -Pastor Eric
Eric’s Thoughts On The Initial Building Remodel
The Village will have approximately $75,000 to remodel our new space. We hope, however, to not use all of that money. Here are some thoughts I’ve had about priorities and how we should proceed. Obviously, use of the sanctuary is a top priority, and we’ll need to do some basic remodeling to get it ready to meet in on a regular basis. This will include removing pews, taking out light fixtures, patching walls, choosing paint colors, painting, setting up a sound system, purchasing some used couches, bringing in our other furniture from storage, and hanging screens and projectors. I think we should spend as little money as possible on the sanctuary at the beginning so that we can put most of our money and effort into providing a safe space for the children to play; so that we can remodel the kitchen area, creating a capacity to prepare food for hoards of people on-site; and so we can redesign the classroom wing to incorporate a café area and create a new layout for offices, classroom spaces, etc. |
