the sickness of rod
You have got to love gastrointestinal flu like symptoms. You have got to love sleeping on the bathroom floor because it is 'closer'.You have got to love sitting on the toilet while holding the waste basket under your chin. You have got to love being married to a nurse who decides that she would rather leave town then 'get what you've got' (and people think nurses are sympathetic. Hah!). You have got to love the BRAT diet combined with lots of liquids. You have got to love emergency room waiting areas where, when the guy faints and hits the floor, they calmly pick him up and prop him back up in the chair. You have got to love three bottles of glucose because you are severely dehydrated to the point of being hard on your heart and kidneys and the nurse keeps
telling you 'aren't going anywhere until you can pee'. You have got to love having a bed in the hallway until they can find someone to clean the hospital room. You have got to love the explanation from the smart Alec nurse of how you will get to the bathroom 'in time', dragging all the equipment and monitoring devices. You have got to love last minute canceling of Lutheran preaching engagements and then your entire calendar for a week of 'complete bed rest'.

Mostly you have got to love breathing fresh air again, eating solid food, and enjoying the morning constitutional. It is good to be back among the living.
