Lunch with the Pastors
Lunch with the Pastors: Don't forget that every Monday at 12:15, you can find Rod & Eric at Fronimo's Greek restaurant across from the Loft. This week, Emily McConnell, Karen, the Wodrichs, Lori, and Roman all showed up. We had a fun time interpreting Rod's most recent recurring dream and discussing the values and shortcomings of vegetarianism.

To the Village
I, Eric, may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
Ill make you so sure about it
God only knows what Id be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

The State of Things
Finances: Historically, July & August have been difficult months for us. So as you plan out your giving this year, please keep that in mind

Yard Sale
Yard Sale: This Saturday at 7:00
a.m., the children of the Village are hosting a massive yard sale which will feature a lemonade stand, handmade kiddo crafts, and some really good stuff. If you're interested in supporting them, stop by the McConnell house anytime between 7 and noon. Who knows? You might even get a good deal on that knitting machine you always wanted but didn't know it existed. Donations for the yard sale will also be
accepted until some time Friday.

Upcoming Gatherings
Upcoming Gatherings: First, thanks to Keith, Dennis &
Russ for watching the children at the Seneca House while a good number of us talked about sex and relationships over at the Cromers'. We really appreciated your willingness to
serve us. On Monday, August 4, we will have our church-wide bbq. This particular one will have a special twist: it
will be the Name Party. Due to the fact that the Village will have no place to meet as of February, 2009, we need to get moving on the support raising for our building. As you know, we have raised $60,000 and need to come up with $40,000 to receive the $300,000 sum from our donor. We have encouraged everyone who has benefited from the Village to come up with some 50 names & addresses of people who may be willing to support the mission of our community. We're in the process of setting up a website where people can place donations and read up on the purposes & progress of the fundraising. We have also put together a support letter which can be used as-is or modified and sent to friends, family, acquaintances, etc. People have talked about their struggle to sit down and generate names on their own, so we're going to get it done together while we party. Bring your address books, phone books, yearbooks, organizers, etc. and make use of the moral support and numerous computer consoles which will be available at the Seneca House. |
