I will be leaving for China on June 26. Actually my flight is on the 27th, but I am taking a Greyhound to LA. I guess they don’t go all the way to China, so I will have to take a jet, the rest of the way. I will be in China through July 7, and arrive back in Tucson around July 9.I have spent a lot of time preparing for this trip, the concert tour (July 20-30), but I feel that I have so much that needs to be done. I am trying to make a draft of a brochure, and have asked for help from Susan Cepin and Julie Bronson. If anyone else wants to help, let me know. I have several photos, which I want to include in the brochure. This will be the first brochure that I have made for CAMACE (Chinese American Music And Cultural Exchange Inc) I will have them printed in China, and one version will be in English, and one version in Chinese. I want to send a draft to China by Tuesday, June 20, 2006. That way there is time to have it translated into Chinese. I will use the Chinese language brochure when I meet with the Chinese Schools and school systems, and leave that version with Fangfang in Beijing, after I leave. I am also having business cards, letterhead, and envelops printed for CAMACE in China. What do I hope to accomplish in China? Well, first and foremost to get to speed some time with old friends. Fangfang Li is one of China's top music Conductors. I look forward to spending time with him and his family, and even going fishing at his summerhouse on the lake. Fangfang is the co-founder of CAMACE. He gave me the idea, when he was studying at the UofA. I also look forward to seeing all of the students that have gone on one of the concert tours sponsored by CAMACE. Beijing Fengtai Number 2 High School and Beijing Fengtai Experimental School are very important to me, and I am very excited to visit them. I also want to spend more time with the Minister of Education for China. I do not know if he has time to sit down and talk, one-on-one, or this is going to be impossible. But I want to get an official letter of introduction for CAMACE. Schools in Beijing know CAMACE and what we do, but outside of Beijing I don’t think anyone knows about us. Reaching schools outside of Beijing are my primary focus for this trip. I want to get the word out about CAMACE, to bring more students to the US, for concert tours, but also for exchange programs with American students going to China for a concert tour. I hope to get support for future concert tours to the US, and also host families for American students doing concert tours in China. Also having the schools open up their schools and students for exchange programs. I also want to solidify relationships and understandings as to CAMACE's role in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I need to get everything agreed upon, and in writing. Most important are living accommodations. My prayer concerns, are many. Safe trip, renewing old relationships. Developing new relationship, and fostering them over a great distance, and over time. That I am perceived as a trustworthy and honest businessman, who may not have a lot of money, but can conduct his business with integrity and ability. But most important, that I start treating CAMACE as a business, and not as something really cool to do. That means funding. Funding for CAMACE, and funds for me.
