To Villagers:
Thoughts from The Shaping of Things to Come, a book I'm reading.
It's been said, "if you want to make things real, you must make them local." That is precisely what God did in Jesus Christ-the divine love took on a local habitation and a name. The coming of God among us was not just a momentary theophany, but constituted an actual "dwelling" among us. In the light of such a dwelling, place - geography itself - took an a sacred meaning: He became known as Jesus of Nazareth. It is interesting to ponder whether Nazareth itself, a poor town in ancient Israel, actually had a role in the formation of Jesus and, through him the world.
