Village Postcard: Sept 2, 2005
First, I want to thank everyone for the good turn out at the Ryan-Joel party. It was good to see everyone, and I appreciated how you guys mingled with Ryan's friends from work. There is a very simple philosophy behind these parties. At the Village we believe that the Gospel, life in Christ, is not something people should be argued into, manipulated into, or fake friendship into. We simply believe that we have something good - in Christ - that is worth celebrating and should be offered to our friends and neighbors because they are image-bearers of God, we are image-bearers of God, He loves them, and so do we. If people become followers of Jesus and come to the Village: great. But if they never do, they are still our friends. We still want to hang out with them . . . we want them to be a part of us.
Second, on October 8th our next party will take place. This one is to celebrate Cheryl and her Art. Buckshot Blu, Karen Bradley's band, has agreed to play. In many ways the first 20 or so years of Cheryl's life were a living hell. This party is a celebration of her leaving that behind. She is inviting many of her friends from work. I'm sure Ryan will invite some of his friends. The party is a celebration of Cheryl’s life, her Art, and Good Music. It will take place on October 8th at around 2pm.
Reminder: Benji and Susan are moving and will need help. If you sign up, don’t forget to show up. I’m sure they can use all the extra help they can get. So give them a call for directions etc: scell4408383 or bcell4408382.
