Money and Mission
Yeah, it has all begun. In July, you guys gave $7,679.39, supporting churches sent us $1,827.70, and the Broader Community sent us $250 - add that together and you get $9757.09. Our expenses totaled $5939.37. Hurray, we are developing cash flow. Last month we saved over $4000 and this month we saved $3817.72. This is good. This is very good. Rod and I are still wandering around town looking for a building, and Rod continues to talk to people about helping us purchase a place. We are still very interested in 2462 N Park Ave, which is on Grant and Park. Our job as a community is to demonstrate that we are able to generate cash flow above and beyond our expenses. The missional purpose of a building is connected to the transient nature of Tucson residents. The Village needs a place that it can call its own. A "Third Space(Most people spend their time at work or home. Starbucks is attempting to be your third place.)" to use a Starbucks term. This would mean that it would be open to public more than just Sunday. Hopefully, we would be able to serve coffee and offer free wireless internet during the week. On Friday and Saturday nights the place would turn into a concert venue for the local community. We could run summer art programs for kids. The list goes on and on, but first we need to raise the money and then we are going to need to raise the money for remodeling.
