The Village Feb 8, 2005 Note to Men: This friday is the Men’s Smack Down at the *St. Michael House(Joel and Ryan’s place). It begins at 6:30 pm - please bring 2.00$ for food. Chef Rod Hugen will be preparing his famous taco salad. If you are able, Joel and Ryan have requested that you bring some wood to be burned in the Chiminea. Thoughts from Eric: Rod, Russ, and I just returned from the Emergent 2005 conference. Please ask us what we thought and get us to talk about what we learned. One of the greatest parts of the conference was the 16 hours of driving to and from San Diego. We had a lot of time to think, argue, laugh, weep, and plan for the future. I never knew that riding in a car could be so tiring. At the conference, we also realized that much of what the leaders of emergent where encouraging people to do and be, the Village was already doing. Once again, it seemed like God was encouraging us to offer what we have learned over the past 4 1/2 years. Anytime I attend a conference, I come back with so many ideas for how the Village could do things differently, and I have to remind myself to slow down and take a deep breath.
