Congratulations!
Kathy and I celebrated 31 years (the inverse of 13, is that significant?) last Wednesday by going out to Jonathon's Cork for dinner. We had never been there before and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The owner (some guy named Jonathon. Go figure.) came to our table in the back room and chatted with us for a bit. I had heard him on the radio and he was pleased that I recognized his voice. He congratulated us but didn't give us any perks except to put a couple candles and some extra fruit on our creme brulee. I don't know what our dessert or drinks (diet Coke and iced tea) say about our marriage.
Anyway, I can assure you that the journey from 13 to 31 will be 18 years that will be, uhmm... exciting, interesting, only a little boring, and sometimes realy hard and sometimes amazingly good. I think we are in an amazingly good time now, but you might want to check with Kathy for a second opinion.
Our first date was to a Phoenix Suns basketball game (we won!) followed by a stop at Mary Coyle's Ice Cream shop. Kathy had never been to a Sun's game before and it gave me pause to wonder if a girl who didn't love the Suns was someone I could spend the rest of my life with. I not only remembered my wallet, but also washed the car and bought a new shirt for the occasion. I think I was already head over heels in love with her even before she kissed me goodnight. I still remember that kiss...
