The Village Muse
$7.50

+ $4.00 shipping and handling (total=$11.50)
+ $1.00 s&h for each additional book

also note
discounts for bulk orders of 15+

I also get to buy at base rates. Which means, if you let me know how many copies you want, and I can put together orders for $7 a copy (including s&h). All these prices have a small markup from Cafe Press prices which will find its way to the Village.

The book really looks beautiful. The poems are awesome. The graphics and photographs are clear and powerful. I'll bring a copy on Sunday (though it does have a few small editing bugs I had to work out for the version up now).

Yes, yes, yes... what a great idea. A book of poems with a great cover. So ... how about some recipes from y'all. Especially for all the single folk up in this 'hood. I've got to drop y'all my recipe for Chilighetti.

So the next book for the Village would have to be: The Single Villager's Cookbook. I've gotten a little tired of all my recipes inspired by my Top Ramen and my cans of Cream of Mushroom soup. There's only so many times I can make my famous Ravioli that I learned from my babysitter SportsCenter and Senor Boyardee.

Let me know if you have any we might include in a future book.

The problem with a Village cookbook...well, the biggest problem, anyway...is that all our recipes would just end up being plagiarised from other cookbooks.

Oh, and the other big problem: it would be like marketing a sardine in an ocean of church cookbooks already out there.

Better to bother Betty Crocker, brother.

I have hardly ever used a cookbook in my life. And you were the beneficiary (?) of one of the few times I did. Remember the sauce that went with the roast beef? It is crucial to differentiate between two canned chilis in adobe sauce and two cans of chili in adobe sauce. I suspect one would give you a midly spicy sauce while the one I made, trying to follow a recipe, gave a five alarm 'burn down the house' sauce that only one of your former housemates seemed to pretend to appreciate.

Keith, you're married. The title for the book suggests to me it would be written by singles in or known by the Village. No offense. Rod, we really need to straighten up Keith. I think he needs help. Give me a call. Better yet send me an email if you could. www.jmccammonii@yahoo.com. Thanks.

I'm not thinking of selling it. Just as a ministry to help us single folk out. Mention where you got it from if you need to. I don't want anybody getting sued over copyright infringement.

Anybody got a recipe for Single's Pot Roast or something else they have had with bigger groups and have also made for themselves or for a "party of two"?

Yeah, it sure is different when you're cooking for less than 14 people at a time.

My favorite cooking-for-one hint: learn to make a killer omelette. Not to brag, but I think I may have arrived. At least am on my way there.

I should have had the patent on it! I've been making omelettes since my dad taught me when I was about 11 yrs. old. I'm still working on the whole flipping at just the right time issue. I prefer the skillet variety myself.

When I go to Denny's, IHOP, and other breakfast places I see that they also thought of the skillet idea. I'm not sure yet if I could have issued my patent on the idea. I thought it was all my own idea to just scramble the egg and add other parts of my omelettes in good timing.

Good thinking, Karen. Thanks. Any more ideas? Are you able to keep a four-egg omelette together? Mine are usually the four-to-five-egg variety. I need to eat something that, for my metabolism rate, makes my belly feel it has some work to do.

My dad taught me and my sister how to cook one day when I was 9 or 10 and my sister a little older. I remember making macaroni & cheese with her. The reason he taught us how to cook was we had asked that night what our dad was going to make for dinner after a long day at work. He decided to teach us right there and then.

So, anyway..............

Yes, Derek: I really want a couple of the poetry books. They look very cool. Thanks for your work on them.

yeah, thanks keith. I was wondering if this would ever come back around. I just got the new shipment from Cafe Press. Unfortunately, I'm going Seattlish on Saturday, then Bellingham bound, as it were. I'll give my dad the copies and the list of orders to pass out Sunday. I can put together orders at any time at $7 a pop, with the only stipulation being I need 15 copies total for bulk rates. Which means you'll have to wait until I gather the orders. Otherwise, buy them online. :) My next project is finishing up a 200 pg personal poetry/artwork book. I'm working slowly and tightening up a lot of poems. I really do enjoy editing and publishing these things!
