Okay, here's my villager and a logo I've been playing with, along with other info (as best I can discern it). Eric, hand me a sign or whatever else you need, and I'll start on it. Just let me know what you want. BTW, this is a scalable vector, so I can make it any size you want.

Wow, Derek! That's sooooo cool. Did you use Benji's tribal font for "the Village" ? I like the way your villager holds the mouse. When I look at it it seems to move and dangle. I wonder - is the mouse bait or a weapon or prey or all of them? Maybe I don't actually want to know. It's just one of those fun thoughts to follow... And either way, I really like your creation.

So when does the action figure come out?

I'll need clay, an unloved G.I. Joe, and some paint. The mouse was intended as a weapon. A slingshot, I guess. I tried to use Benji's font but am having problems, well, with all my fonts. So, I did it with bezier curves. Anyway, thank you for the encouragement. It's weird making clean, smooth-looking graphics. My art usually doesn't come out that way. I'm messy. :) Nice to find a tool that helps, and I'm having a lot of fun learning it.

Here are a couple of old pictures that Derek used on the old version of the website. They are favorites of mine!

This used to be the icon for the forums (which were, sort of, the predecessors to blogs):

And this was the intro graphic to the forums:

That rocks! I still have a full page of those somewhere. They include the "Village Idiot," "Village Drunk," "Village People," etc. They were actually supposed to be just rough sketches for a new cartoon character (Eric asked Benji and I to come up with one). Anyway, they were so funny that they ended up being used on the website anyway. The "Village Mob" was the best of all. All of my non-descript and odd-looking animals (my first attempt at cartooning animals). However. . . That now reminds me of the thought I had while doing the Inkscape Villager. Which is: Inkscape non-descript and odd-looking animals. . . Yes, excellent. . . We may have a new Village Mob. It is amazing how much the villager has evolved without actually changing (though he grew out his goatie and for some reason switched weapon hands). Three or four years does a lot to a cartoon character, I guess.

Being ambidextrous helps a lot in spiritual warfare ;-)

---I love Mr. Village.-- I'm wondering who served as the model? ;-)

I also feel like I should tell you that you've misspelled Campbell, before we paint the town w/1,001 of 'em. (That's what we're gonna do, right? After sundown, of course)

Well, he's actually a blend of two things. One is the weird hairstyles of Japanese anime. However, I wasn't good at Anime, and so it's oversimplified. This gives him sort of a "coconut tree" feel.

The second is Mickey Mouse, whom I learned to draw in high school from a picture in someone's folder. He was then subjected to random physical and psychological trials, most of which cannot be told here (nothing bad, just. . . odd). If you must know the stories, there are plenty of people who went to high school with me that would be glad to share them. Most of them, I don't remember.

Anyway, ambidexterity is overrated. It actually takes constant practice or else you lose the ability. Then, one day, some doctor could come in and force you to write for hours on end until he finally can tell your left hand as slightly smoother in cursive than your right hand. You could then be forever thereafter banned from using your right hand. After a while, you're just a confused lefty who's right eyed and right footed. I mean, hypothetically speaking.

Also, I changed my sign. Keith sent me an e-mail about it, too. It actually works out well because I jerry-rigged the background colors the first time. Now I built them in nice and pretty-like. Thanks :) The odd thing is, I got the info from a map website . . .

Okay, so here's my second go. I'm still short most of a deer, but I'm sure you'll never notice it isn't all there.

Lastly, a cool new site update-

Okay, I'm done now.

The "Village Mob" guy from the forum.

IT'S BENJI!!! Just look at him. I swear it looks just like the Benj-meister. I never noticed it before. Is that intended? Or am I just seeing things???
