As Kairos Awoke
by Derek Hugen, 2-12-04
a slow kiss,
soft breath,
a daylight strain to its first sound
take his eyes from sleepy death
to the low hiss of steamy thought
the billow silky dress
as the sky color and blue like shadows.
he slip his silent finger by her skin
feel soft cheek delicate and snowflake,
“unique” he thought and didn’t say,
opens lips to echo his emotion.
falter,
remain
statued giant . . .
she lean,
warm breath, bright eye,
touch that lip to his own
then disappear
against the sun
until
a day is broke
or time
