one of the songs I'd frequently listen to while on my world race trip was this song called "how he loves." whenever i was discouraged or frustrated or just didn't know what was going on, this song would kind of put me at ease.

I had only heard kim walker's version, and now david crowder has a version out too... but just found out that the original version is by john mark mcmillan.

i found a cool video of him talking about how/why he wrote the song here - check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NXWE6AC8ao

here's the words.. i know they are simple but often there's beauty in simplicity:
Verse 1:
He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

Pre-Chorus:
And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Chorus 1:
Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.

Verse 2:
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

Chorus 2:
He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.

I appreciate the honesty in you sharing your struggles- both now and in previous years. It must be so weird to be back from such an exciting year where you moved around the world, helped people, saw amazing things, spent exhausting hours in airports, sat in hospitals with injured mates, and learned about this world that God has created. I can't imagine how mundane and boring Tucson might seem. I also am not there to listen to your thoughts on the process, so forgive me if my "advice" is outdated, overstated, or misunderstood. I just want to express that I read your posts and am thinking of ways to encourage you.

I noticed you asking for people who need help.... Have you tried that site, volunteermatch.com (I think that's it). It lists places that you can volunteer in the Tucson area- from tutoring to working with special needs kids at horse camps. There are so many places that need people. I think they have cheap art classes at Reid Park during the summer too. Do you speak Spanish? Maybe you could work with my in-laws in Nogales. Maybe you could put together a VBS program for the kids and the neighborhood at the Village? It doesn't require too much- I could connect you with some materials.

I think it's good to process the journey you've had this past year, but I just want to encourage you to not stay there. You're such a friendly, outgoing person and God could use you in your processing to love His people. Plus without you having a job and all (I think that's right) it might be good to take advantage of your free time. I know you're trying!

My father in law might be looking to sell the house in Tucson again- maybe you could earn some money painting for him. I'll check.

If you were here in Detroit I could put you straight to work! Do you want to come up here for a couple weeks!?!?!?

Anyway, just some thoughts.

I LOVE that song too! It's one of my favs! Did you know Eric Cepin met David Crowder!?!?! I like to make a big deal out of it because I know it makes him laugh and it really isn't a big deal- except that I love the DCB!
