hey everyone. I have wanted to post the lyrics to this song for quite awhile now, some of you may have heard it and some of you haven't. some of you might really like the lyrics, some of you might not.

I have been wrestling with it and can't decide if it's really good or not. it is by a band called Nickelback, who to my knowledge don't really have a Christian background. so some of the lyrics sound kind of new-agey.

if you go to their website (www.nickelback.com) you can watch the music video of this song... it is interesting as well... if I knew how to post it here I would as well.

anyway. here are the lyrics, feel free to post thoughts good or bad (the song name is "if everyone cared", the CD is called "all the right reasons", and the band is nickelback. I do not recommend the entire CD.

If Everyone Cared
Lyrics - All The Right Reasons :.

From underneath the trees, we watch the sky
Confusing stars for satellites
I never dreamed that you'd be mine
But here we are, we're here tonight

Singing Amen, I'm alive
Singing Amen, I'm alive

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died
And I'm singing

Amen I, I'm alive
Amen I, I'm alive

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We'll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

Singing Amen I'm alive
Singing Amen I'm alive

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died

And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died

We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day, we'd see the day
When nobody died
We'd see the day when nobody died

Cori,

Thanks for sharing the video. At first glance the lyrics didn't appeal to me. Although for me it takes the music and the lyrics anyway. :)
So I clicked on the video and I was blown away. I love reading statistics and seeing how normal people rise to the occasion and then out of their faith and belief and strength huge movements happen.
It gave me goosebumps.
It reminds of me of the kids who are getting the news out through the videos about the wars in the Congo/the Sudan. Although the situation is still going strong and it is extremely brutal, there are people out there trying to get publicity to show what is happening. It seems like that was the key in getting organizations formed for the various people in the video.
First, they had something to fight for. Secondy, they spoke out against the fight- literally, marches, etc.. then through the speaking out publicity began and once people were aware of the situations changes began.
Speaking out doesn't come free. All of the individuals paid with their lives. However, it paved out waves of peace for generations. I watch videos like that or read autobiographies of people who have fought for a cause and I want to be that. I want to end poverty. I want peace to reign in the entire continent of Africa. I want freedom for the Middle East- particularly for women. I want the exploitation of children in the South Pacific to end. I want the turmoil in Colombia to end and the drug wars to be over. But am I really willing to choose a cause and fight for it with everything I have? And then if I am not willing, does that devalue me?
And then I think of the small things.... all the jobs that we do and the organizations we support. Although small, they ripple out.
I think it's important to have something to fight for and do what is in your power to change.
Thankfully we worship a God who weeps along with us. I trust that whatever He wants me to be part of is known becuase he puts the longing in my soul.
"But here on this mountain, God of the Angiel Armies will throw a feast for all the people of the world, a feast of the finest foods, a feast with vintage wines, a feast of seven courses, a feast lavish with gourmet desserts.
And here on this mountain, God will banish the pall of doom darkening all nations. Yes, he'll banish death forever.
And God will wipe the tears from every face. He'll remove the sign of disgrace from his people, wherever they are.
Yes, God says so!"
Isaiah 25:6-8
