Of course, that would put my son, Justin, out of work since he is the quality control guy checking the quality of the concrete used to build the bridges forming the freeway overpasses in Tucson. So, uhmm, I have to choose between my 'daughter' or my son being employed... :)
By the way, I think it is a Federal highway project so the state legislature probably doesn't have power to stop it in such a way that we would be able to divert the money, anyway. Economics is a tough subject. I am here in Grand Rapids cutting $2,967,000.00 dollars out of a nine million dollar budget. Real people are going to feel the very real consequences of others not being able to be as generous as they have in the past. Pray for church planters and pastors who are going to take severe cuts in the money that we had hoped to send them in the next year. Unless the overall economy turns around, there will be lots more pain.
You are right that it is always about choices. But those choices always affect real people in painful ways. That said, I'll continue to pray for my kids. All of them.
