Something like October 19th is Clergy Appreciation day. I thought it would be a nice thing to appreciate our Pastor Eric, and what he really needs and really would like is to have his backyard cleaned. I was thinking of getting a group together on October 16th at about 9am to clean the Seneca House backyard. Please let me know if you are interested in this. I will have to be gone for a short time during it, but the more people the better. Pass the word along to those who do not have internet access. Give me a call if you want to do this or have any ideas.

Sorry, Rod, could not think of anything for you. But you can give suggestions.

Cheryl

I believe Rod is slated to preach at the Mormon church on that day.....isn't that right, Rod? :-)

I'm almost sure I booked him at the mormon church on the 19th. Besides, I'm sure one of you good people would love to take him out for dinner or something.

A few weeks ago I preached at Bethel Christian Reformed Church. I also preached at my friend David Gainey's Southern Baptist church recently. In the last months I had the opportunity to speak at a church in Casa Grande that is loosly affiliated with the Evangelical Presbyterians and last week I spoke at Ajo Way Church of God which comes out of a Holiness tradition. A week from Sunday I will be speaking at a church in Scottdale that has supported the Village and the week after that I will be at Iglesia de la Hermenes (is that close, Blanca?) and will have someone translate my message into Spanish. Theologically I don't know who I am anymore. I made the mistake once of saying I would love to preach anytime any place. I'm repenting that sin at leisure. Just a hint: never take a New International Version of the Bible to a Holiness church and never preach on baptism at a Southern Baptist church. Don't talk about losing your salvation at a Christian Reformed church and don't tell Evangelical Presbyterians that they are the frozen chosen. I haven't offended the Spanish speakers yet, but I'm sure that when they hear my Credo de la Apostoles, they'll have me stoned also. Despite Blanca and Joel's best efforts, I no comprende Espanol.

Going out to dinner for Pastor Appreciation month sounds good. It beats having my yard cleaned up.

Those sound like great lyrics for a Jim Croce song:

Well, you don't bring an NIV Bible to a Holiness church,
and you don't preach on baptism to the Southern Baptists

You don't talk about losing your salvation to the Christian Reformed
and you don't tell the Evangelical Presbyterians they are the frozen chosen

and you don't mess around with Rod.

Pay attention, Village musicians. This could be the next "Benji Park."
