Grief, too much to comprehend,
Surrounding us like an ocean of waves
Crashing down, time and time again.
If you let the tears go,
Will they ever cease?
Grief still lingers in the corners
Hiding within boxes and files,
So neatly displaying order and peace.
If you let the anger roar,
Will you ever survive its bit?
Grief coming in from unknown places,
Children’s laughter, a father’s play.
The empty past abounds with wounds.
If you allow the pain,
Will your heart ever be healed?
Grief for yourself, Grief for others,
Anger at the past and present,
Pain over all the bleeding wounds.
If you don’t let the tears flow,
Will they ever be healed? |
