Subject: Family Poem

What does family really mean to me? What does family mean to God? My biologically family will only have me if I live a lie. They have rejected me and abandoned me Because I have spoken the truth. I was silent for so long and it nearly destroyed I cling to the verse that God cares for the fatherless, And He has given me a family to live in, But I cannot let go of the worry, What if they leave me? Many already have left, After all it is just a church, But this body of Christ is all I have for family. This body holds my only father, my sisters, my brothers, my relatives. I have poured my love, prayer, energy, money and time here. And then God draws me back, “Am I sufficient for You?” I want to say yes, but I believe I was created to be in a family. I need physical touch, I need arms, legs, bodies. I am not good as a hermit; I have tried it. I try to trust, but it is so hard. I try to believe, but it seems out of my reach. Would I survive if it all went away? I have survived worse with you, Abba, So I am sure I can, but it would be so painful.
