Ron: Let me help (1/10/12)
Since we moved into the building that the Village is in, I have spent at least 1.5-2.5 hours most every week cleaning the church. I am currently typing this as I take a little break from my duties before I vaccuum. I usually pray as I clean, listen to music, talk to God, or just vent to God. It is a good time, and although I do love cleaning because it calms me, sometimes you just do not want to seep, mop, clean that same floor another week or face the urinal another week. While I was scrapping left over crusty pizza sauce and cheese that had sat since last Sunday of a folder chair and the floor, God reminded me how thankful I was for some of the blessings that He gave me this past year. So I wanted to public say, "Thank You," to some people. I want to thank Carena for faithfully returning to help me twice a month even with infant and sometimes boys in toe, with an extra person a min 2 hour job to do the basics can turn into an one hour job. I also want to thank Village newcomer this year, John Mark and his finance who is not a newcomer, Tracy, for picking up two weeks a month of cleaning. In the past, if I got sick, I had to painfully clean anyways because I am stubborn and did not want to leave another thing to Eric, or go with the church looking not so great for our guests on Sunday evening. I got really really sick this Holiday Season and missed a week of work as a result, but I had someone to call to help me this time, John Mark came and did a beautiful job last week even though it was not his normal week. I also want to thank Jeff who when he cooked this Holiday Seanson totally reorganized the kitchen and made it beautiful in the cabinets (something I have wanted to do, but did not have the time or energy after doing everything else). I also wanted to Thank my cleaning supplies suppler - you know who you are!!!

With all these Thank Yous said, I would also like to ask for everyones help. I love how Eric says that this is our House, all of ours. We gather, eat, and use this house sometimes multiple times a week. With that said, it is everyones responsiblity to care for this house that God has graciously given us. I know we have work days twice a year at least to do major projects, but having the responsiblity of having your own home means you need to maintian it on a regularly - daily or weekly bases. With that said there are lots of things that you could do to help out if you are at the church doing something, the following are examples:

Pick up trash off the ground (inside and outside)
Sweep (inside and outside)
Wipe down a table or two or a chair or two
Flush the Toliet if it has not been
Clean up soda cans, water bottles, etc from the Sanctuary
Throw out stuff in the fridge, freeze that has gone bad
Wipe down fridge/freezer
Take out the Trash
Take out the Recycling
Empty the coffee making items and clean them out
Empty the cream dish and clean it out
Load the dishwasher (and if it is Friday, run it even if it is not completely full)
Wash some windows (which is a luzury that rarely gets done)
Pull some weeds and clean up trash around the church
Wipe down toys in the nursery
Organize a drawer or cabinet in the kitchen

This list could go on and on; must of us live in our own places how would you like them to look when company comes over. Our House has company every week. Love you all and Happy New Year.
