. I want to scream. I want to yell, but I feel mute. I am no longer mute. I hear. I respond. I long. The enemy is coming with vicious teeth, and I cannot stop him. I know that he will not be able to destroy or devour. That will not be allowed. But he will wound. He will tear. He will shred through the souls of those I love. God will bind up. He will heal. He will comfort. He will join in the fight. But why must we be at war? Why? Why? I cry with no response, as my heart aches to take the next step. As I rejoice in the goodness of life. Gifts that God has lavished on me. Blessings that seem so undeserved. Pain and suffering. Blessings and joy. Mingle together like cream and coffee to make a bitter and yet delightful drink. Victorious in one battle only to meet the next enemy that constantly hovers over us as the dead man seeps into us. Bound we are. Bound to the evil. Bound to the past. Bound to this wretched thing. And yet whole. Alive. Glorious. Renewed. Dichotomies everywhere. You cannot escape. The battle rages on. Light or darkness. Death or truth. Been an ally to death for so long. The light blinds and illuminates. Piercing through with rays that burn and cauterize the wounds as you try to save yourself from another blow. Why must we war? The battle is won. Why must it continue? For the bittersweet ending that has already occurred? Why?

I wonder why God saw fit to grow Penicillin from mold and provide antivenom from venom and vaccines from viruses. It's just as logical as creating life from death and strength from suffering. More why-s...
