So, all you creative people...
wait -- don't skip to the next blog. I'm talking about you!
We have been offered a commissioned project at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The people who live at the Norris house would like us to design a new sign for their residence. I suppose this would require some carpentry-type skills for construction, as well as lettering, design and painting. Is anybody interested in participating? I thought we could brainstorm all blog-like and then work out the details.
Rod, can you tell us any more information on what exactly they're looking for?

I would be willing to do something with a group of people, no carpentry skills though, but I would love to help.

I want to say, yes, I'll help, but right now in my life I'm generally feeling overwhelmed/overcommitted to activities stuff, so I dunno if I can follow through on this while school is still rolling. If people gather one day, give me a call, I might be up for it. Or not... (sorry to be flaky--wait--does this even fit my own definition for flaky? Your thoughts, Cheryl????)

Hi,

I'm Lars Hammar, one of the pastors at Our Saviour's.

I'm the one who brought up the idea of a sign for Norris House. Our college students were quite impressed with your paintings, back when they were stored in Norris. They liked the use of bold colors, texture etc.

The thought came up to commission the Village to paint us a big plywood sign for the exterior brick wall facing Norris Street, between the carport and the window. All it would say is "Norris House - Our Saviour's Church" and have lots of colors and whatever else you thought would be cool there.

There's absolutely no rush, and we'd compensate you for the materials, time, paint etc.

Time-wise things are really crazy and crunched for me, but this sort of thing is normally something right up my alley. Unfortunately I can't realistically make any time commitments for a while, but...

I do have a large covered patio and a shed full of tools, which makes for a great place to work. Neither Andrea nor I need to be around if any enterprising and artistic individuals would like to practice the fine art of sign-making using said patio and tools.

The space and tools will be available starting toward the end of May. I might be able to contribute labor in, euh, July, maybe?

I am available to help with this, but I don't want to do it all alone! I would be willing to do most/all of the painting if no one else can, as long as the idea part is done collectively with several people first. Maybe one of these days after church some of us can get together and brainstorm?

I like the idea of a brainstorm session after church one of these Sundays. I would like to be a part of that; I can also help with the painting.
