Dear ,
I am actively involved in a church called the Village. Its name reflects how this particular community of faith functions in a very interpersonal and
relational way. My time here has helped me to become more confident of my identity in Jesus Christ and in the practice of offering good things to others through Him. It's been a safe place where people have loved me well and helped me to discover my own need for God. While the Village has provided a home for me, the Village itself has no home.
As a group of Jesus-followers, God has spoken Isaiah 61 to us: "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners" (61:1). These are things God has given us opportunities to live out in Tucson, Arizona, as our church has been a place of healing and renewal for many people here. To further embody this calling, we seek to become more accessible to our city by having a permanent, visible
location - a building where people can come and there discover a deep sense of belonging.
The Village has functioned nomadically since it began seven years ago, meeting in various places owned by other organizations. Throughout the past couple of years, we have begun to ask God for our own space in which to
better live out our calling. As an artistic and interactive community, we already host art shows and concerts, classes and Bible studies. A building of our own would facilitate growth in these pursuits and give us more contact with the larger Tucson community. It would also allow people outside to see us as rooted and established in the city. This is particularly important in the very transitional
culture which exists in Tucson.
Through the Barnabas Foundation the Village has generously been offered $300,000 toward the purchase of a building. This money, however, will only be given once we have first raised $100,000. Will you prayerfully consider being a part of what God is doing here in Tucson by giving a gift of $25, $500, $1000, or any other amount toward a permanent home for the Village?
If you would like to help, please send your donation with the enclosed response card. If you would rather donate online, please visit our website at www.supportthevillage.org. This website also includes more information about the Village, our mission in Tucson, and the current state of fundraising.Any monetary gift will be receipted as tax deductible.
Thank you for participating with us in this journey by your prayer, support, and consideration!

Love always in Christ,

Okay... so this blog is the text from the letter the fundraising group created. It was designed to be a prototype: it could be sent "as is" or be personalized, casualized, formalized, or businessized. It is available on Village Sunflower letterhead w/ a few photos and a bit of space at the bottom for writing a short note. This format, however, is in Quark (a layout program). So if you don't have Quark, you could e-mail your re-write to Julie or myself. We can put it in the letter format & print it out and give you however many copies you want to send. I was thinking that if people want to put revisions up as a response to this blog, then the various versions would become options for anyone else to use.
The Village also has pledge cards and Village-stamped envelopes to include in fundraising mailings.
If you do have Quark and want the letter in its full format, post a blog here or drop me an e-mail.

On the original letter, I had www.supportthevillage.com as the donation address. But it's actually www.supportthevillage.org.
