I was pretty pleased that I had turned out a "Cultural Creative" or whatever the label was. It seemed quite avante guarde, or cool in a "smoking behind the gym" kind of way, or maybe like finding out I am a member of a secret group that is working undercover to change the fabric of the universe...

I'm not feeling so excited about the label now that my parents have taken the test and also been declared "Cultural Creative." Those of you who know my parents may instictively understand this, but for the rest of you, I'm not saying they are bad people or anything, I just like to think I am in a totally different category of thinking than they are.

So there it is. If I have spoiled things for the rest of you, I am very sorry. I think the questions on the quiz are great - perhaps the interpretation of results are still not quite calibrated.

If interpretation is really all there is then the test shows nothing because who knows how each test taker interpreted the questions and response process. It seems like you are supposed to indicate varying levels of "agreement". But what about questions that contains "always", "never", or "every"? If you can think of any instance - even insignificant - that doesn't fit in with the statement then you can't say "that's always/never true" so you should really choose the firmest "disagree". But if you choose that then it seems like the test is interpreting your response as: "there are countless instances where I disagree with that statement". Instead of "I can think of one insignificant instance but its make the whole statement impossible because of the superlative language". But since language is definitely suspect then what did I just say anyway?

One interesting thought that these questions bring to my mind. As far as I can tell, God never says "There is an ultimate reality" all he says is "I am your ultimate reality". It doesn't seem to change anything for us human types on earth....but then I've always had an interest in thinking about useless stuff.

Even though test results like these are somewhat silly, I think they give us a very interesting picture of the Village. It is no suprise to me that most Villagers are Cultural Creatives. What is interesting is how each person seems to fall out under that World View. For example Julie is 100% Cultural Creative and 81% Fundamentalist. I think each World View score under Cultural Creative is more an indicator of how we approach our Cultural Creative world view than how much we have adopted each particular View.

So, I won't take it personally when you all give me my walking papers. It doesn't appear that I have the qualifications to be in the Village...

You scored as Romanticist. Romanticism encourages society to look backwards to find our solutions. Your rationale is that things were much better a few hundred years ago so we should thus look back to those times and replace them in our modern society. You believe in a simple life and that the complexities of the modern world have turned it upside down.

I think it's all rigged.

You scored as Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

So why did so many people get exactly 56% fundamentalist? Hmm...56...56...what can it mean?

Rock on, Andrea!
So all my scores besides the c-c were 31% or lower. I think that's because I went middle of the road on anything that to me depended completely on context. I guess that makes me 69% non-committal.

Hmm, retook the test and came out different. I'm not sure I agree with it.

You scored as a Derek. Derek is one of the newer groups to enter the realm. You are tall and have an odd craving for doughnuts. You are also watching Trigun. You are spiritual, even though you overslept and missed church last night. Life sort of has a meaning, but it depends a lot on your mood.

I retook the quiz to see what would happen if I answered all the questions the way I think I would have about 12 years ago (I had been an atheist and devotee of Ayn Rand).

You scored as Existentialist. Existentialism emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.

I would see my world view as spherical in nature. I'm not too sure who these chaps at QuizFarm.com think they are but I would differ to say that they didn't pass on anything related to scientific psychotheory. Would anyone disagree with me on that?

Clearly, the world can't be described as a circle or cycle as some would say because of several postulates. One of which is that the world is not flat as a circle is and not a cycle in the true sense of the world cycle -- because it's clearly more rotational than cyclical.

Another area of concern I have is whomever came up with the term 'cultural creative'. It is clearly a negligible term and the one whom came up with it needs to refine their descriptive vocabulary. Here are my results for whatever worth they might be. Cheerio!
