I would like to know if there is anyone interested in helping feed the men at the Primavera Foundation men's shelter? I have contacted the Primavera Foundation and found out that there was an opening to provide one meal a month to the men located at the Primavera Shelter on Benson Highway. It would entail providing one dinner a month on the fourth (4th) Saturday of each month. The dinner would feed aproximately 110 people. If there is enough interest within the villiage community, our first meal gift would be March 28, 2009.
This does not have to be a grand and expensive meal, rather a simple and cheap meal, like soup, sandwich, fruit.
I know that I really enjoyed doing this at another church I and Bill Kemmeries attended many years ago. It took our group a couple of hours each month to make the meal. So it is not that time consuming of a task.
I also thought that the idea of assisting in Operation Deep Freeze would be a good use of our new facilities. I think that our community could ramp up for next winter to host the homeless during the city's Operation Deep Freeze" We would host the men, women, and children in our church, for the night, and provide them with dinner and breakfast. They would start arriving at our church around 6:00pm and would leave at 6:00am the next morning. When I was at Luthern Church of the King, we had army cots that were used. I know that they had them a few years ago, and were not using them. Maybe they would donate them to us

This is just an idea or two that I have. I would like to know what others think of these ideas.
