A friend of mine e-mailed me this:

State of Arizona
House of Representatives
Forty-seventh Legislature
First Regular Session 2005
HB 2781
Introduced by
Representatives Konopnicki, Allen J, Boone, Pearce, Weiers J (with permission of committee on Rules)
AN ACT
ALLOWING FOR A TEMPORARY REBATE ON THE TAX PER GALLON IMPOSED ON MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL POSSESSED, USED OR CONSUMED IN THIS STATE.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Motor vehicle fuel tax; consumer rebate
A. Beginning September 6, 2005 through June 30, 2006, a consumer who purchased motor vehicle fuel at the pump in this state beginning Memorial Day, May 30, 2005 through Labor Day, September 5, 2005 may apply to the department of transportation for a partial rebate of motor vehicle fuel taxes imposed pursuant to section 28-5606, subsection A, Arizona Revised Statutes.
B. When a consumer applies for a rebate pursuant to this section, the consumer shall submit original receipts for the motor vehicle fuel purchased in this state beginning Memorial Day, May 30, 2005 through Labor Day, September 5, 2005. After receiving the application for a rebate, the department of transportation shall rebate to the consumer ten cents for every gallon of motor vehicle fuel the consumer purchased at the pump in this state beginning Memorial Day, May 30, 2005 through Labor Day, September 5, 2005. The rebate shall not exceed two hundred dollars per consumer.
C. The department of transportation shall pay the rebate pursuant to this section from the state general fund.

I thought I'd share the blessing with all of you :)

That's fabulous! Too bad I haven't been in an obsessive receipt-saving mode these past 8 months. Maybe I'll start now....

The good thing about this is that you only need the receipts beginning May 3oth 2005 through September 5th 2005. Then you have one year approximately to file for your rebate. So, if you haven't thrown any gas receipts away in the last two days you haven't lost out on anything.

Oh, yeah. I've been having the hardest time keeping track of the year lately; everything dated from 2003 to 2006 is kind of blurring together for me. I would make a cyst joke, but somehow it seems too macabre.

I knew that this was being proposed in the House of reps and/or senate but hadn't heard if it passed. Did it for sure?
