A Couple weeks ago I went out to Plush on 4th ave to check out a friend of mine play in his new band. When I was leaving after the show, on the other side of the street where 6th intersects I saw a man pacing back and forth holding a bullhorn. Barking about God and anger and hell and everyone that saw him just kept walking. I've heard of people doing this but I had never seen it done with my own eyes.

I am often horrified at fanatics like this, not for my safety but for the well being of the people who hear them speak. Those that will hear his twisted and harmful version of the gospel and who might continue to reject God, as I did, for many years. I worry about those who will continue to hate Christians and, in many ways, I don't blame them. So I wrote a lyric in response. As soon as the song is finished I'll be happy to share it if anyone wants to hear.

Vs 1
He's got a
holy bible in his left hand
a bullhorn in his right, and he stands
pacing back and forth, yelling at the passers by

he sounds as angry as the red on his face
he talks about wrath but never mentions grace
no one even dares to look him in the eye

lift
Now I don't mean to critisize what you do
but here's a little food for though for you

Chrous
I don't think that Jesus needs a bullhorn
his voice can still be heard above the crowd
No I don't think that Jesus needs your bullhorn
so kindly won't you put that bullhorn down

Vs 2
He takes a
swig of water than starts right back in
screaming something about John 3:16
I thought the gospel was about good news

He twists the meaning till it all gets lost
God's nothing more than an angry boss
and lifes a game that we're all bound to lose

Lift
now I am far from perfect man I know
but I've got something to say before I go

Chrous
I don't think that Jesus needs a bullhorn
his voice can still be heard above the crowd
No I don't think that Jesus needs your bullhorn
so kindly won't you put that bullhorn down

Bridge
The more you scream the more no one will hear you
just keep on ranting they'll all tune you out
If you'd stop yelling and maybe listen to others a little more
maybe you'd find out what Jesus is really all about

Chorus
I don't think that Jesus needs a bullhorn
his voice can still be heard above the crowd
No I don't think that Jesus needs your bullhorn
so kindly won't you put that bullhorn down
