Subject: From Yarn to Blankets

For the past three years I have been helping make blankets for those in need through a program called Warm Up America. The process involves many steps completed by many people. Some of us knit or crochet 7x9 inch rectangles. All the rectangles are gathered in one place, sorted into color coordinated groups of forty-nine pieces. These are then sent out to other willing hands that sew the forty-nine pieces together into a 49x63 inch blanket. Once the blankets are finished they are picked up by the Red Cross for distribution.
You may have the impression that this is a lot of work and your impression would be correct. But it is work that I have come to love. I love being a part of creating the blankets, of serving a need and working as part of a team. Perhaps you too would like to a part of this project. If you would like to know more about what we do or would like to be part of making a blanket just let me know.
