(3/4/08) This afternoon we had our appointment with Dr. Ketchel who is Tom’s oncologist. The lesion on the liver is smaller than an inch square and the encapsulated blood may be the result of the lesion being cancer. There is also a small nodule on his lung which wasn’t on his last scan. The doctor’s recommendation is to wait 3 months and then get another CT scan. If the nodule or lesion is larger on the next scan, their growth would confirm we are dealing with cancer. There is no added risk to waiting because if we are dealing with cancer it has metastasized and there is no cure. Any treatment would be to prolong his life. In Dr. Ketchel’s experience the vast majority of these situations turn out to be cancer but he did add that he hopes to be pleasantly surprised with Tom’s next test results. This will definitely take another miracle of healing for Tom for which we are praying fervently. Please join with us as we struggle down this path.
