I just noticed that people were asking about how things are on my last update, so in answer, here's how things are:
AWESOME!!
LIving situtation: I love living with my uncle and cousin Pam! My uncle is a Christian, but my cousin Pam is not. She used to go to church, but I think she got jaded somewhere along the way or something. But anyway, I have been able to get to know her again and have some great conversations about God and stuff she is going through, so please pray for her. She is so sweet and only two years younger than me. My uncle Dick and I have great, hilarious conversations often and I have been able to help him a lot.
Scenery: I can't get enough of all the amazing trees I see every day. I go up and touch the massive trees at Forest Park to make sure they are real (haha) and like to hide under the branches of the weeping willows by the lakes or just walk through the GREEN grass.
Church: I am attending Memorial Presbyterian Church. http://www.memorialpca.org/ I grew up PCA and attended this church when I was in Middle School. My first two weeks here I tried other churches, but as soon as I went to this one, I knew it was where I wanted to stay. Now I am getting to know people and seeing how to get involved. For sure when they found out I have my TEFL certification and love working with international students, they asked me to teach an ESL class in the Fall.
Friends: Haven't made a lot yet. I have been visiting with my older bro and his family and re-connecting with various people I went to High school with, so that has been super! I hung out with one girl from church last week and it was great!
Job: Still no job, BUT I had a phone interview today for an administrative assistant position at a local PCA church called Kirk of the Hills. I want the job so badly! It seems everything I have been looking for, but I won't find out if they are interested in me until the end of the week. I feel like the convo went well, but it is so hard to know how others perceive your answers over the phone. In the meantime, someone in my church wants me to clean their house tomorrow, so that will provide me with some very needed cash for the moment.
Thank you for your prayers! Love to you all! |
