Psalm 35:18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly;
among throngs of people I will praise you.

I have been thinking lately about all of the wonderful things God has done in my life lately and this verse kept coming to my mind. I think He wants me to outwardly give thanks in the presence of "the great assembly" (ie: you fellow Villagers), not only to give him the honor due his name, but also hopefully to encourage you to think of things you are thankful for as well. To make it easier and to keep myself from writing a novel about it, here are my top ten:

Besides the usual dear family and friends, I am thankful to God for:

1. This arduous semester being OVER!!! Ahh! Summer, here I come! I only have ONE semester left!!
2. LAUGHTER :D and people who make me laugh
3. My work gave me extra hours so I don't have to look for an additional job!! (SO thankful for that!) I love my workplace
4. My new little place to live! I am extremely excited about moving in and starting a new adventure and... DECORATING!!!
5. The Villagers-I smile just thinking about you :) See?
6. My dog. She is just so cute and fuzzy!
7. The rain we had last week and the lovely day we had today
8. Weddings, love, marriage and PARTIES!!
9. Flowers
10. A good night's sleep! (yeah for no more sinus infection!)

How about you? Feel free to write your own list of Ten Thanks!

Thanks, Laelia. It is hard sometimes to praise and to be thankful when we would rather complain. Here is my current list...

1. Times of intense prayer and deep conversation with God.
2. Old friends who call out of the blue just to chat.
3. My mother's eightieth birthday followed by my father-in-law's eightieth birthday. Both of them are such amazing people.
4. Eric. After all these years of working together I still get to see new facets of him and his love for Jesus.
5. Working with Jimmy, Julie, and that wacky intern, Lori. They make me laugh and feel loved and use their amazing gifts in deeply sacrificial ways.
6. The working out of tough issues at Kathy's workplace in such a way that she is smiling again.
7. A neurosurgeon, who everyone says is the absolute best in town, despite his not so great bed side manner. Medical professionals who 'tell it like it is' and who have tears in their eyes when they do.
8. An upcoming road trip with my boys, Justin and Derek, to California. Dodger dogs, sleeping on couches and floors at relative's houses, the San Diego zoo, the beach and ocean... I'm so looking forward to it.
9. June 8. Thirty five years of marriage to Kathy. God has been faithful to us as we have lived out our vows together.
10. The Village and all the things that make it the community I barely dared to dream and hope for.

To God be all glory and praise. He is good indeed!

Rod

I'm thankful for:

1. So much to be thankful for including reminders like this blog to notice my blessings.
2. 41 years of marriage to a Godly man that just keeps getting better and better with time (the marriage and the man).
3. God's constant presence whether I choose to enjoy him or turn from him.
4. Having 8 grandchildren that are each so unique and open to me loving them for their specialness.
5. My love for photography and the excitement it brings when I've been able to capture something so special I may never see it again.
6. Having young women welcome my mentoring and their willingness to be transformed.
7. The Villager's that choose to love and pursue me especially when my beauty isn't evident.
8. My children and their spouses as they strive to live in the light and the example they are to me of beauty and strength.
9. This beautiful spacious home I have been given to shelter me, comfort me and serve me in so many ways.
10. Time for reflection and thanksgiving.
