Here is the list of stuff for Christmas boxes and the details.
I decided to work with the Tucson Rotary Club. They are, in turn, working with the Sonora, Mexico Rotary Club. The Sonora Club will be dealing with getting the stuff over the border.
The last day to get boxes to me is Sunday Dec. 7th at Vespers. To get them to me sooner just give me a call and we can work it out.
The actual trip to Mexico for handing them out is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 4th.
Here are the suggestions:
The focus is elementary school, girls and boys, grades 1-6.
Do NOT send health items or toiletries. (I know, different then last year but that's that.)
Good choices would include
socks, mittens, gloves, scarfs, stocking caps...warm small clothes.
Pens, pencils, paper, rulers, tablets, 3 ring paper... school supplies.
Crayons, coloring paper, colored art paper, colored pencils, gel pens and dark notebook paper...the fun stuff.
Small toys.
Candy.
Wrap cardboard shoeboxes but be sure not to secure the tops! They must be able to be opened at the border for checking. Feel free to decorate with stickers or whatever if you use a plastic box.
Be sure to put a tag on the top of the box showing CLEARLY either BOY - GIRL or EITHER depending on what is in your box.
No money is needed to pay for shipping this time. |
