My back just went out this morning - yet another sign from God, or something.
So...it's finally time for trees to be planted. It's the perfect time. And I was supposed to join Ryan McCulley to dig holes and plant 4 trees at The Village Saturday morning. Starting at 8am. Now look at me: in bed with a hotpad and flying high as a kite from painkillers.
I'm having visions (hallucinations, maybe? or am I dreaming?) of Ryan out there in the really cool breeze, chopping away at the caliche on his own all day, just so we can have new trees in place, ready to grow into shade producing works of art. God art, I might add.
Please, if you can spare an hour Saturday morning...please please. Come out and fill in the gaps - so I won't have to feel so guilty when Ryan does all the work by himself. And so he won't look at me in disgust and say, "very conVENient" and call me names under his breath. You know how Ryan is.
There's a need for shovels, pickaxes, caliche bar or two, metal rakes.
I'll drag my arse down the street to get donuts and coffee and water and maybe I'll take a few pictures to put on the slide show Sunday.
This is a hard job for one person, that could be really, really much easier if we have lots of people doing small bits of it. Lots of people means a quicker, easier job. I've seen this before - it's really true!
I know a couple of you said you could probably be there. Please do! I hope to see lots more of you there, too. Bring stuff!
