OK. Hopefully enough word of this has gotten out that those of you who would like to can come on a girls' overnight campout.

Anna and I are going up to Rose Canyon campground on Friday at about noon to camp overnight and hang out a bit on Saturday. There will likely be some who want to come up after work, but that's not clear yet. We will return by early afternoon. If you are interested in joining us and the 6 or so other women who have said they're coming, I need to know by Wednesday. Boy children under 5 are welcome, otherwise girls only, please. Friends are welcome to join us.

I will be cooking spaghetti dinner for those who commit by then and asking you to bring your own breakfasts, snacks and lunches. Also, there will be some costs for the camp sites which will depend on how many of us there are and how many vehicles we drive. We'll work that out once I know who's coming.

You can let me know you're coming by responding to this blog or calling me at 591.2359. Please say what time you're available to come up.

I'll post more info here after Wednesday.

Mount Lemmon Forecast:

Friday: Partly cloudy with a stray thunderstorm. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the low 60s.

Saturday: More sun than clouds. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s.

-------------------------------

I am camping with the expectation that there will be a shower or 2 to hit us. I will have a tarp or 2 set up for this event, so we won't be without shelter.

If you decide to come even though it might rain, please make sure to bring appropriate clothes and a rain-fly for your tent.

If you said you're coming, but don't want to risk the rain, please let me know that you're not coming.

BOOOOOOOJ, I am definately coming, probably won't be able to come up till about 3pm. I will be bringing Ryan Moore's van. If anyone wants to carpool with me just let me know. I am planning on leaving the Seneca house at about 3pm.

OK. It looks like we will need 2 campsites and 3 vehicles. We're taking my van (with 5 seats and packing room available) and the McConnell's 9-seater suburban up around noon on Friday. My guess is that Andrea and Blanca will come up after work in a vehicle together.

Based on these assumptions, it should cost $35 for our campsites and I'm asking for a $1.50 food donation. So each adult should pay me $5 for camping expenses and give your driver $1 for gas.

If you need a tent or if you're tent is small, you might want to buddy up with someone. Emily M and I both have large tents; I don't know about anyone else. If you need basics like a sleeping bag, let me know and we can get you set up.

THINGS TO BRING: tent (or find a spot in someone else's); camping chair; plenty of drinking water; breakfast, lunch and snacks; warm clothes for if it rains and cools way down; flashlight; bedroll and pillow.

STUFF TO NOT WORRY ABOUT: I will have a campstove set up with pots and pans (and a coffee brewer, of course). I will have everything needed for dinner Friday night. I will have paper plates and bowls and cups and plasticware. I will have coffee, tea, sugar, splenda, hot chocolate and marshmallows. I will have 2 gallons of milk for cereal and such. I will have a propane lantern and a tarp/canopy to sit under when it rains.

Hey, uhmm... Julie? Just because you say you are bringing a tarp for 'when' it rains, doesn't mean the reverse psychology thingy kicks in and gives you sunshine and breezes. Nice try, though.

:-)

Hi!
Is there anyone who has an extra space for me in their tent? I don't snore and sleep like a log. I plan on going up the mountain with the group that's leaving at noon and will help with the setup.
Thanks so much for organizing this Julie! It should be lots of fun. How can we go wrong if our leader actually likes to camp in the rain?

Hi there,
Amanda is really looking forward to this camping trip. In this area she is nothing like her mother!
I would really appreciate a list of what I should pack for her. She'll be a sorry little camper if I'm left to my own ideas of what she might need for camping.
Julie, should she pay you $5 (and another $1.50 for dinner) and the driver $1 as she has no "adult" with her?
Thanks for any help.

I'm excited, too. Cheryl is her sponsoring adult and kids are free. I emailed you a list, but we're gonna have plenty-o-stuff, I suspect.

Blanca, Susan P and Andrea are cooking pancakes for everyone who wants them on Saturday morning. Those of you with food allergy issues can bring alternative batter options and we'll cook them for you or you can just opt for something else to eat.

I am wondering if there is room in a tent somewhere for me? I get up and wonder often in the night, but other than than am a low maintenance sleeper. I am nervous about sleeping on my own. There may or may not be room in the Vanagain (sp?) for me with Blanca. Thanks, Andrea

I have that big family tent that I bought to use for a changing room for my wedding, if anyone would like to stay in it with me. It sleeps six or something like that.

Since Adela and sister are not going, there are 3 free spots in the Vanagon for those who still don't have sleeping arrangements. Also, July when you choose a camping site, would you keep in mind a place where we can park the Vanagon pretty close it. Andrea, Sus and me will be making blueberry/strawberry/regular pancakes, eggs and sausage for breakfast.
I am really looking forward this trip, will be a nice bonding experience. Thank you much for putting it together. You ROCK!

I think we should plan to use 3 family tents and the vanigan, since we're only using 2 campsites. Let's take my tent, the McConnell tent and the Townsend tent. That should sleep everyone comfortably.
